Introduction to Warranty

A warranty is a promise from the manufacturer or supplier that a product will meet certain quality standards and perform as described for a specified period. In case the product fails due to manufacturing defects within that period, the manufacturer may offer repair, replacement, or support services.

Skywave’s Position on Warranties

At Skywave, we operate as an e-commerce platform and retail marketplace, connecting customers with a wide variety of products from numerous manufacturers and suppliers. As such, Skywave does not independently offer warranties on the products sold through our platform.

Instead, we act as a facilitator between the customer and the brand or supplier. All warranties available on products are strictly those provided by the manufacturer or supplier. Our role is to help you claim these warranties when necessary, but we do not have the authority to enforce or approve warranty claims.

How to Know if a Product Has Warranty

  • Products listed on our website that have manufacturer warranty will be clearly indicated as “Warranty Available”.
  • Products with warranty are typically stamped by Skywave to confirm that they originated from our store.
  • For Pay on Delivery orders, stamping may not be done unless payment is completed at delivery. In such cases, the order details will reflect warranty information.
  • If you’re unsure, ask for the service center details before purchasing. A valid service center is a strong indicator of a product’s warranty status.

Warranty Tip

  • Most generic, unbranded, or locally assembled products do not come with a warranty.
  • Warranty is more common on major global brands, often built into the product’s price.
  • Big brands sometimes offer add-on warranty packages at an extra cost.

Product Categories and Warranty Insights

  1. Home Appliances & Televisions
    • Most warranties are available on refrigerators, cookers, and televisions.
    • TVs are a top example where warranties are important. Brands like Vitron are easier to deal with due to established service centers.
  2. Machinery, Tools & Power Tools
    • Rarely come with warranty due to misuse risks and difficulty in diagnosis.
    • Brands may provide conditional warranty but it’s not common.
  3. Automotive Products
    • Generally not covered under warranty unless it’s a high-end product like Sony or Pioneer car systems.
    • Most require professional installation, which complicates warranty claims.
  4. Commercial Appliances
    • Difficult to provide warranties due to misuse, abuse, and lack of decorum in usage.
  5. Sporting & Exercise Equipment
    • Often not covered as they are subject to heavy physical use and damage.
  6. Furniture
    • Warranty is uncommon since most issues are physical or user-related.
  7. Solar Products
    • Gel batteries: Hard to warranty due to high discharge damage.
    • Lithium batteries: More warranty-friendly, but still come with conditions.
  8. Beauty Products
    • Commercial items like dryers might have warranty from big brands.
    • Generic or low-cost brands usually don’t.
  9. Electrical Fittings
    • Big brands may offer warranty.
    • Budget or unverified imports typically don’t have coverage.
  10. Public Address Systems
    • Even from large brands, warranty is rare due to handling risks and complex setup.
  11. Fashion & Garments
    • Clothes, covers, and similar items are not covered under warranty.

Important Notes

  • Always confirm with the seller or Skywave team if a product has warranty.
  • If purchasing physically, ask for a stamped warranty card.
  • Keep your order details and warranty stamp safe as proof.

Skywave’s Role in Warranty Claims

  • We assist with following up claims by connecting you with the supplier or brand.
  • We do not control or guarantee the outcome of any warranty claim.
  • All final decisions lie with the supplier or manufacturer.

Final Thoughts

It’s important to note that the absence of a warranty does not necessarily mean a product is of low quality. Many high-performing and reliable products may not include a warranty, especially when sourced from cost-conscious suppliers. On the other hand, brands that offer warranties often factor the cost of warranty support into the product’s pricing—and some even sell extended warranty coverage separately as a premium service.

Warranty should not be assumed, especially in categories where it’s not commonly provided. Understanding the nature of the product, the brand reputation, and the warranty conditions is essential. When in doubt, contact our support team or inquire about the service center before purchase.

With Skywave, you’re assured of transparency. And when a product has warranty, we make sure the process is as smooth as possible for you.
